That's right. We are in the process of buying our first home in Bluffton, SC. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bath house. Bluffton Park which was previously known as May River Crossing is located dead center in the middle of downtown Bluffton, SC, or what is known to some of the older residents as "Old Town." The actually cute Bluffton isn't that big of a place. The commercial version of Bluffton is pretty big though. The city limits stretch from about 10 miles outside of Hardeeville up to Okatie. And lucky us, we live just one block away from the local Piggly Wiggly.
Our house hasn't been built yet but this is what it will look like in 5 months. Sort of...
This is currently what our "house" looks like. It has great potential as you can see.
New work on the home site. The ground has been broken. The builders have the plot surveyed and have some dirt piled onsite for the pouring of the walls for the slab. Some of the interior of the slab will be earth.
Updated finally after only 3 months: 7.22.03
After some screw up in the county permit office finally got his/her act together, we finally got our permit after only 2 months of twiddling our thumbs waiting.
Now we actually have work being done on the foundation of our house. Look... the supports for pouring cement. Oooo. Aaaah. Its like fireworks, only not. :-)
Check out our first floor walls. Aren't they.... brilliant plywood color? September 02, 2003, 14:32:36
Really making time now. Hard to believe its the slow-country. Got to the site a little late. Blurry image touched up with some highpass filtering. 9-3-2003 20:00
The next morning. The guys are hard at work doing something... I guess this is how they tie together #1 and #2. 9-4-2003 8:58
Hey, someone built another house last night. Dude, if this was a race, y'all are gonna lose. September 05, 2003, 8:50:48 AM
Hey guys... that there is starting to look like a... well a house. I'm kinda excited about that roof and my wife... well, the porch is what she's liking. And the neighboors officially caught up. What is this? I say its a conspiracy!! September 05, 2003, 6:26:24 PM
They finished the roof... after a number of inches of rain through the holes. Hope we don't have creaky upstairs floors now. September 09, 2003, 7:26:42 AM
The windows are in but nobody is home. The tubs/showers are in the back yard, though you can't see. I don't know what the deal is on the timing of the house yet. Seems like when they want to, they get a lot done. There was some fairly nicely dressed guy out in the front yard today. Don't really know what he was doing there though. Don't know what the box is for either. September 10, 2003, 7:31:32 AM
Jenny and I sneaked into the house to take a peek at where they are. I wanted to know what the rain had done through the big hole in the roof. Jenny measured for blinds. Interesting how our minds work differently. September 14, 2003, 2:12:50 PM
Looks like they are soon to start shingling the roof. That means we'll be dried in soon. Oh, and notice, they have a little shed in the back. It will work perfectly for the track system that I have in mind for my work table! September 15, 2003, 6:00:16 PM
Well, Jenn says they have the AC and electric run inside but I can't tell from my semi-daily drive by "shooting." They are putting columns up on our porch. They better be doing a good job. There are also some evident seals around the windows with a forcast from Jenn that they'll be putting the sheet insulation and siding on shortly. That is something I'll be watching for fairly closely. September 19, 2003, 8:48:54 AM
We drove past and noticed half a roof of shingles and half of the house had siding. Jenny decided she wanted to go inside. While we were there the guys showed up who were shingling. Well, this morning they had the shingling done. September 22, 2003, 8:42:46 AM
Well, they are coming along. Its starting to really look like a house. The back actually is the side that I never take pictures of, its fully siding-ed. Now all the shingles are up and most of the siding. If they could only get the transome above the front door up, they could finish the siding. September 23, 2003, 8:41:28 AM
They didn't get a whole lot done but Jenny said that the siding is more done now than it was yesterday so here is a picture. September 24, 2003, 8:40:32 AM
We officially have drywall and cabinets. They also have moulding around the doors. October 06, 2003, 7:00 PM
We have countertops and moulding and window sills. October 14, 2003, 8:00 PM
As you may or may not be able to see, they are working on getting our sidewalks in. The thing is that they have been working on them all weekend. I guess maybe this is the last prep before they pour. The neighbors are getting theirs the same time we are getting ours. October 20, 2003, 9:00 AM
Well, the house is almost complete. We have our final walkthrough on the fourth of November which is tomorrow and then we close on the 14th. Then we'll move in of course. Nov. 3, 2003, 9:00 AM
